Hi there, I am Julie Barlow, and I am a qualified, BACP accredited, and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. Coupled with significant life experience I provide one to one adult psychotherapy at Well aHead Therapy CIC. I work in a humanistic person-centred way as I believe that each of us is a unique individual, with individual views on how we see the world, and therefore a unique and personal way to engage with therapy and to develop a unique and personal response to the issues we have. My aim is to provide safe space, to listen in a non-judgemental way, to help people achieve their full potential and to understand their real self.
There are times in our lives when we can feel overwhelmed, distressed and stuck, unsure where to go and who to turn to. At times like these talking to an experienced professional can help to become unstuck, be more able to deal with what life throws at us and to move forward. Our feelings and emotions can affect and dominate the way we think and behave, sometimes in a negative way, and we need to understand our feelings and emotions, face some of the things that we fear before we can become unstuck and move on. I would work with you to develop a Therapeutic relationship with you, through listening without judgement, with empathy and authenticity.
My training to Masters level in Psychotherapy was undertaken at Leeds Beckett University, and I consolidated this with achieving Accreditation with the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I trained in Humanistic Therapy, but also able to integrate other ways of working. I have gained a certificate in Trauma Informed Psychotherapy and also last year a certificate in Supervision.
As one of the Directors of Well aHead I am passionate about the provision of excellent therapy services, at a price people can afford. My aim is to provide safe space, to listen in a non-judgemental way, to help you achieve your full potential, to make sense of what has happened to you and to understand your real authentic self. We achieve this together through both long- or short-term counselling.
